It matters to me your experience as a performer. I want the work to feed you, to feed your imagination, to grow your research, to imprint you deeply so that you are never the same. I ask for your curiosity, your confusion, discomfort and layers. You are the dance and in order for it to unfold the work demands a generosity and a willingness to excavate and reveal. We will inhabit a world that is authentic, honest, at times messy and complicated. What matters to me is whom we become in this process together, an active, evolving state of being. No two renditions should be the same. Throw out all expression that doesn’t serve you. The dance is what remains. The discipline of this presence requires us to trust the intelligence of our bodies, knowing that we can’t always articulate the why. But it does. The dance matters. And without you as the performer it could not be the same. |
