I am in the beginning stages of working on a duet for December's Venturing Out.
I gave this two go arounds today, the video you see below in the second attempt. In today's video, the wall represents the other dancer. What I don't like about this improvisation is the constant rocking quality. After watching it, I felt seasick. This came from the need to constantly shift my feet to feel like I was going somewhere, because a wall doesn't give. I also think that the beginning of the piece will need more tension: the clenching of fists, the folding in of shoulders, the desire of the body to become smaller to fit the space. I am excited to see where this piece takes me after day one of exploring!
