So it has been a very, very long time since I have recorded any improvisation. I find that when I am in regular rehearsals my desire to come home and move some more is very slim. I am hoping to make more time for my practice over the rest of this spring.
Today, Nick recorded me in our backyard area on his iPAD. I am interested in the perspectives that dance film can offer. I am playing around with the idea of Nick recording and editing a film (I think he's on board for this, although he may be humoring me!) I would dance and improvise at a location, and he would record as he pleases. I want to see what he finds interesting in movement and camera angles. To juxtapose his film, I would use the same recordings, and edit it into my own film, presenting them both together as an insight to how two people can view the same source material. So my plan is to play for a while, with Nick as my camera man to document my improvisation practice. Once we both feel comfortable with a location, we will start the official filming process! Stay tuned for more.....

The idea of Nick recording and editing a film has not been discussed with Nick prior to this blog post.
